Foxford – “the Capital of the Moy” – is a village in County Mayo, Ireland which is Nestled between the Ox mountains and the Nephin mountain range. This world-renowned fisherman’s Mecca on the Moy has lots to offer in terms of spectacular scenery, walking trails & historical heritage.
Agnes Bernard (1842-1932), founded a convent and started a water-powered woollen mill here in 1892. The Woollen Mills today is a thriving business with 3 stores throughout Ireland and still produces its world-renowned blankets.
Admiral William Brown (1777–1857), founder of the Argentine Navy. The hero of the Argentine War of Independence, and defender of Buenos Aires in the Cisplatine War, was born in Foxford.
